Event Photography in Kensington: Capturing the Elegance of The Fleur de Lys Gala
Event photography is an art that goes beyond just capturing moments; it’s about telling a story. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing The Fleur de Lys Gala, an event held at PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie in South Kensington. This gala dinner, followed by a series of raffles and an unforgettable night of dancing, was a vibrant celebration aimed at raising funds for youths aspiring to study music at university.
The Venue: PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie
PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie, located at 52 Fulham Rd., South Kensington, London SW3 6HH, UK, was the perfect setting for The Fleur de Lys Gala. The event took over both floors of this elegant restaurant, creating a luxurious atmosphere.
Guests arrived dressed to the nines, with men in sharp tuxedos and women in glamorous gowns, ready to enjoy a night of fine dining and entertainment.
A Night to Remember: Dinner and Raffles
The evening began with a dinner. The food offered by PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie did not disappoint, with guests indulging and enjoying the company of their fellow attendees.
Following the dinner, the focus shifted to the raffle, a key highlight of the night. The raffle, was an exciting part of the event. It was heart-warming to see the generosity of the guests as they participated in the raffle, all with the goal of raising funds to support young musicians.
Dancing the Night Away
After the raffle, the event transitioned into a lively dance party. The DJ played the best 90’s tunes, and the dance floor quickly filled with guests showing off their best moves. This part of the night was particularly enjoyable to photograph. There’s something magical about capturing people in their element, completely immersed in the moment. The joy on the dance floor was infectious.

Candid photography is my favourite style, especially at events like The Fleur de Lys Gala. There’s an authenticity in candid shots that posed photos often lack. They capture genuine expressions, spontaneous interactions, and the true spirit of the event. Whether it’s a guest laughing during dinner, the excitement of winning a raffle prize, or the pure joy of dancing to a favourite song, candid photos tell a story that is both beautiful and real.
